Elkton Hotel Guide

Elkton (originally known as "Head of Elk", from its location on the Elk River) is in the northeastern corner of Maryland, just across the border from Delaware. At one time Elkton was famous for "quicky" marriages because of Maryland's relatively lax waiting period requirements. Despite greater uniformity in marriage laws between states, Elkton still does a significant amount of business of the marrying kind. The area is also home to a greater-than-expected number of liquor stores due to the promixity of both the Delaware and Pennsylvania borders. It's the county seat of Cecil County.
