Six Flags America is located a short distance outside Washington, DC near the suburb of Upper Marlboro, Maryland. The park started out as a wildlife refuge before a water park was added in the 1980's, followed by expansion into a full-fledged amusement park in the 1990's onward. The Hurricane Harbor water park is still a major attraction, along with seven roller coasters and a large batch of other adult and "kiddie" rides.
