The staff at TheRealPlaces.com has been busy this weekend revealing a major redesign of the site.   We have a new logo, new color scheme and new site navigation system.  It’s been a few years since we did anything this major, so we decided to take advantage of the higher screen resolutions used by most visitors and increased our page widths by a few pixels.  Don’t worry, it’s a less than 10% increase and makes it easier to present all our hotel and travel information in a more compact format.

The maps on the site have been upgraded to the latest version offered by our friends at Google.  They use the latest, coolest-looking on-map controls – and load a little faster than the old maps.  We also have a nice new set of icons that we’re using to indicate the locations of hotels and other landmarks on those maps.  Our method of finding nearby hotels has been improved, making it easier than ever to find a place to stay near one of the 90,000+ landmarks (everything from arenas and stadiums to hospitals) in our system.

And you can now follow us on Twitter.  It’s not only the quickest way of keeping up with what’s happening at TheRealPlaces, we’ll also be “tweeting” about travel-related news that we find all over the web.

We have many, many more enhancements planned for TheRealPlaces and we hope you’ll continue to visit us whenever you need to do some travel planning.
